Oak Television Surround

I was tasked to create a substantial oak television surround to fit into an alcove using my clients own excellent design requirements. The customer designed an oak brass hinged flap that hides the sound bar when not in use. The mantle top and storage unit are precision fitted yet easily removable for cleaning and should access be required to the alcove.

Made from hand selected kiln dried European oak, this project was carefully hewn and distressed by hand with my spoke shave and other specialist tools. It has been finished with a stain and oil to further blend with the charm of the room.

Due to the surroundings and cabinet specifications, a specially built TV mounting hinge was required. This necessitated a very strong hinge with unique pivot points. In this example, Charles Mason Engineering of Malvern designed and fabricated the TV hinge as no similar hinge was available on the open market.
